Sophie Doherty,

Amazing the Space

 

Sophie is from Derry-Londonderry, Northern Ireland and is one of the leading youth ambassadors for the ‘Amazing the Space’ initiative, a youth-led peace project, celebrating young people’s role in Peacebuilding.  Sophie is one of the leading young people involved in lobbying to government officials to secure financial backing for the project.  

 

Sophie also sits on the ‘Amazing the Space’ steering committee, in this capacity she helps influence the ‘Amazing the Space’ initiative, which has saw over 400 schools in Northern Ireland Ireland sign up to the project through the submission of peace pledges, as well as global input through international partners such as the Global Peace Foundation and Generation Global.

 

As part of the project Sophie created a Peace pledge on behalf of her school, Foyle. This peace pledge was carved into stone around the 'Peace Flame' in Derry-Londonderry's city centre which was lit by Martin Luther-King Jnr.
