A senior executive with a concentration in building sustainable business models, Scott Ferguson brings more than 30 years of experience in international business and the WTC Network to the role of Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, he was President and CEO of Trade Centre Limited, an Atlantic Canadian organization that operates “World Trade Center Halifax” in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

 

During his tenure at WTC Halifax, Scott received international and national recognition for his ability to innovate and foster organizational growth, most notably with the development of the largest convention center in Eastern Canada, the Halifax Convention Centre. He was also the lead in developing an operational model for WTC Halifax with an emphasis on membership growth, events, and the delivery of trade education services.

 

Scott is credited with securing many corporate partnerships to support revenue generation for the WTC Halifax operations, including a 10-year naming rights partnership, and substantial funding from three levels of government to construct the region’s premier convention facility.

 

With an MBA from Saint Mary’s University, Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Acadia University and an ICD.D Designation from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors. He has been a guest speaker on business strategy at regional and international industry events.

 

Scott’s professional affiliations include the following: Director, Convention Centers of Canada; Member, AIPC (International Association of Convention Centres); Member, International Association of Venue Managers; ICCA (International Congress and Convention Centre Association) , UFI (Global Exhibition Association) TEC Canada, Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia, Maritimes Energy Association, Destination Halifax board member, Hotel Association of Nova Scotia board member; the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors, Maritime Chapter, board member; Connect Nova Scotia Leadership Team member.

 

In 2015, Scott was named one of Atlantic Canada’s top 50 CEO’s by Atlantic Business Magazine for the second time. Past accomplishments include co-chairing the 2011 Canada Winter Games Bid committee and serving as the Halifax Chair for the 2008 World Hockey Championship, an event that won the 2009 Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance PRESTIGE Award for the Sport Event of the Year.
