Raunaq Sahni,

Co-founder, Grand Slam Baseball

 

Raunaq Sahni is currently pursuing his Masters in Social Enterprise at American University, Washington DC. At age 20, he co-founded Grand Slam Baseball with his childhood best friend. Grand Slam Baseball is an umbrella organisation for all Baseball and Softball programs in India. The organisation is launching India’s first regulation size Baseball and Softball field this fall to accommodate 90,000 players in India. Since its inception, the company has experienced a 400% growth rate. The organization hosted UNs 70th anniversary in India last year where the Director of UNIC for India and Bhutan called it “the most diverse youth sports program in the country”.

 

Grand Slam Baseball’s signature youth program- The “New Delhi Little League” works closely with the US Embassy in New Delhi to promote sports diplomacy and has been strongly supported by US Ambassador Richard Verma.  The organisation has been featured in major publications such as NBC Sports, Times of India and Hindustan Times. Grand Slam Baseball recently participated in a panel discussion alongside the US Assistant Secretary of State, Mr. Charles Rivkin, which was aired on CNBC Young Turks. The organisation has organised a clinic with India’s first professional Baseball player and Million Dollar Arm star- Rinku Singh. Raunaq is now planning to start his second venture, a dairy cooperative project that aims help 200 Indian villagers who are currently living in extreme poverty.
