Della Hareland

 

Della Hareland has been the Public Diplomacy Coordinator at the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs since August 2012. Della covers academic and cultural exchanges for China, Mongolia, Taiwan and Hong Kong. She has organized and implemented both the 2013 and 2014 U.S.-China Consultation on People-to-People Exchange (CPE). Della joined the Foreign Service in 2008. She served her first tour in the Dominican Republic where she worked in the Consular Section. After that, Della served in Peru as the Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer where she managed a variety of cultural and academic exchanges. Prior to joining the State Department, Della worked for Intel Corporation for ten years and she and her husband started their own walking tour business. Della is married to a Foreign Service Officer who works in Consular Affairs. Their next assignment will be in Beijing, China, following two years of Mandarin language training.
