OhnSoon Kim
Training Specialist, Peace Corps Office of Staging and Pre-Departure

 

OhnSoon Kim first joined the Peace Corps Headquarters in November 2015, as a Training Specialist in the Office of Staging and Pre-Departure. She has designed and facilitated 3 different models of pre-departure orientations, and facilitated 4 week-long trainings for overseas staff from all regions (64 countries) on Intercultural Competence, Diversity, and Inclusion (ICD&I) sessions.

 

Before taking on the role at Peace Corps Headquarters, she worked at a non-profit developing education projects for marginalized groups in Kenya and South Korea.

From 2012 - 2014, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia, as an English Teacher Trainer, working with primary school teachers and students. She also worked with her community on Camp GLOWs (Girls Leading Our Word), HIV/AIDS prevention education workshops, and other gender and youth development programs. She also served as a member of the Peer Support Network committee for fellow Volunteers in country.

 

OhnSoon currently lives in Takoma, D.C. with her husband, Joseph. She enjoys photography, reading, and watching soccer games (go Real Madrid).  She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Media, Culture, and Communication from New York University, and is a master of arts candidate for global policy at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
